Product Overview

Ah… remember the good ole days?

That jar of pickled sausage sitting on the counter at the local gas station, tavern, bait shop, or country store—just waiting for somebody brave enough to reach in and claim one?

Chances are, this is the one you’ve been looking for.

Matt & Dana Hot Pickled Sausage brings back that classic old-school snack flavor with a little extra attitude. Made with chicken and beef, these sausages are seasoned just right and packed in that bold red pickled brine that has been calling people’s names for generations.

They have enough heat to get your attention, but they are not trying to set your eyebrows on fire. Just spicy, tangy, satisfying, and dangerously easy to keep eating.

These sausages are skinless, with no casing, and have a medium-to-firm texture that makes them perfect for snacking straight from the jar. They only come in the gallon size because, let’s be honest, a few just will not do.

If you are looking for where to buy pickled sausage online—the kind that tastes like road trips, corner stores, tailgates, and “I probably should not eat another one, but here we are”—you found it.

    Very Good Sausage!!!

Posted by Unknown on 1st Feb 2015

Enjoyed opening and eating some of these sausages. Had a STRONG CRAVING for these sausages, but couldn't find them anywhere (times have changed, and so have nostalgic items like these...). So GLAD I found your site...now I don't have to wait. All I need to do is order after I knock these off!!!

Penrose fans can't be wrong...these are Great!!

I ordered 2 gallons of these and 2 gallons of Matt and Dana's Spicy Smoked sausage. I opened the Hot Sausage first and they are there! I don't think you can get closer to the OLD Penrose flavor and I have been looking trust me. I ate my first Penrose in 1972 at Lola's pool hall in Clay City, IL. If the Spicy Smoked ones are any better I may have to shoot myself in the foot to keep from dancing. Keep up the good work. I will be buying more. Coop

This product is the closest thing I have found to the discontinued Penrose Hot Sausage. You will not be disappointed.

If you liked Penrose Red Hot Sausage this the closest brand I have found so far, you wont be disappointed. No tough casing which is a waste to begin with.

    They are not hot

I bought two one gallon jars of the "HOT" pickled sausages. They are very good, however, they are not "HOT". They are not even medium. I love the taste but I am very disappointed that they are not "HOT". I guess I will just have to give these away and try another brand. BUMMER

    Spicy a la nicey.

The sausages have a moderately intense pickled flavor, spicy but not hot in the way hot peppers such as jalapeno's or habernero's and such are. I find them rather pleasant to wolf down right out of the jar, and they go well with the following items: Chocolate Strawberry Milkshake, Potatoes Au Gratin, Pretty much any salad you can dream up, particularly potato or macaroni salad, and tossed salads with more of such items as: tomatoes, carrots, cabbage, radishes, bread & butter pickles, any cheese, nuts, and grapes or raisins. The sausages also lend themselves to macaroni & cheese, as well as imparting an interesting twist to Minestrone and soups along those lines. The pickle juice works wonders for many foods, and I like to cook with it or use it instead of vinegar for making salad dressings.

This is a fond memory from my past when we went with my dad years ago to the local tavern and they had them setting on the bar. Me and my sister have been looking for these for ever.Going to order and bring back some of my best memories of my dad.

    Bringing me Back!!

I used to go to the local Skating Rink in my hometown and they used to have hot sausages up on the snack bar. I used to get a few with my friends and we love the way they tasted. When the rink closed down I tried to find some hot sausages that tasted just as good but no hot sausage ever fit the bill.. They were either too chewy because they left the skin on or they has too much texture. Finally I found this site and Matt and Dana's Hot Sausages and their Pickled Smoked Sausages and I am hooked! They are perfect! A little softer than the Smoked versions but still amazing! I will come back here for LIFE!!! GO HOT SAUSAGES!!
